Who is Central Aroostook Kennel Club?
We are a small club of County residents dedicated to pursuing a deeper relationship with their dogs, promoting sound and responsible breeding, and improving the human-canine bond.
We were established in 1973 as an affiliate to the American Kennel Club and occassionally host AKC sanctioned Fun Matches
What activities does the Kennel Club offer?
Club sponsored classes are now 100% positive reinforcement training program (aka clicker training).
In the spring and fall the club offers Canine Good Manners which includes an introduction to clicker training and teaches the handlers how to communicate with their dogs and teaches basic manners.
In the summer months the club offers agility classes outdoors in the Ashland area.
From time to time the club brings in experts from around New England for seminars and workshops on topics such as canine nutrition, canine behavior, agility, Ttouch, clicker training, and Bach Flower Essence.
The club hosts fun matches, agility play days and helps support the Central Aroostook Human Society with the Paws for Cause annual fund raising event.

Who can belong?
Anyone who:
loves dogs,
is hungry for knowledge to become a better owner,
is willing to assist the club,
supports the club's code of ethics which includes responsible breeding.
We welcome all dog owners and their dogs regardless if your dog is registered or not.
Who we are not:
We are not an animal shelter or rescue organization. While we support these efforts, we focus on activities people do with their dogs. Our members range from pet owners to serious breeders and competitors. The one thing we all have in common is a love of dogs and the desire to have a great relationship with our dogs.
We normally meet monthly in Presque Isle at River Side Park building the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Besides the regular club business part or our meetings, we often have a small educational program. Visitors are welcome, but we do recommend you check with Mel Berube or other club member to be sure the meeting has not been moved.
