Advanced Obedience Classes

Looking to go farther than our Canine Good Manners class or want a more formal heel or front? That would be obedience.  Obedience is more than just good living with human skills, it is a formality and a precision.  AKC, UKC and CKC offer obedience competitions.

The Kennel Club will offer obedience classes from time to time when there is sufficient interest.  It is open to all breeds, mixed breeds and who are at least 6 months old.  All dog & handlers enrolled in the obedience classes must have taken Canine Good Manners or be familiar with clicker training techniques.

Goal:  To provide the handler with the knowledge of obedience behaviors required in a competitive environment (note competing is not necessary but the knowledge will be there if the handler wishes to).

Topics/behaviors taught:  Novice Obedience behaviors/exercises (heel – on/off lead, figure 8, change of pace, turns, stay, recall, formal front, finish, group sits/downs).

Aggressive dogs will not be accepted into group classes, but will be referred for private instruction.

Dogs in heat may be excused from class.
